Cell Culture

The cell culture core provides users with orientation, training, common cell lines and cell culture reagents, a cell culturing service for researchers with low volume or intermittent cell needs, long term cell storage and user support. In addition, assistance with method development and protocols for the isolation and culture of primary mammalian (human and rodent) cells are available by arrangement with the Director.

Resources:

  1. 4 fully equipped cell culture rooms containing a total of 5 laminar flow hoods and 5 double incubators
  2. 4 inverted phase contrast Nikon TE100 microscopes for visualizing cells
  3. Self-maintaining liquid nitrogen cell freezer housing up to 12,000 vials (see list of cells available (link here)
  4. 2 liquid nitrogen dewars for individual user storage of cells, housing up to 4,000 vials
  5. 2 Becton Dickinson Coulter Counters
  6. Cell culture centrifuges
